Mission and Vision

The Department of Art History's undergraduate education is designed to provide comprehensive training in the field of art history, equipping students with the skills to examine and research the history of art as independent, critical and self-confident individuals. The department also aims to prepare students for further studies in art history and related disciplines.
One of the department's key objectives is to introduce students to the cultural assets of our country and the wider world, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse forms of artistic expression and their historical contexts. In this manner, our students are taught the fundamental principles of art history, its significance within the broader context of the sciences, and the nature of art history as a systematic body of knowledge.

Mission: The department's objective is to educate individuals who possess the requisite knowledge to undertake studies at the international level in every field of art history and the ability to apply the knowledge they have acquired to other disciplines. They should also be able to think critically, devise solutions to problems, and act as pioneers in their field, respecting universal values. Furthermore, they should be able to conduct quality scientific studies and research.

Vision: To be a pioneering department that is recognised nationally and internationally for its quality scientific publications and projects, with its academic staff who constantly renew and develop themselves by turning to popular research areas that have emerged as a result of the dizzying development of science and technology, with individuals who are trained to produce knowledge and gain the ability to apply their education in real life.
Education and Training: The academic year consists of two semesters, each consisting of 14 weeks. The autumn term commences in September, while the spring term commences at the end of February. Each course offered by our department is supported by practice courses, which serve to reinforce individual study.
