NORTH PISIDIAN SURVEY
Prof. Dr. Fikret ÖZCAN
North Pisidian Survey has been carried out under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Fikret Özcan in ancient settlements in Isparta and its districts since 2013, Prostanna, Parlais (Barla) near Eğirdir District, Mallos near Sarıidris town, Tymbriada near Aksu District, Kapıkaya near Güneyce village of Isparta center, Sandalion near Harmancık village of Burdur Aglasun District, Yalakasar Ancient Settlement of Gökbel District and rural small settlements between these settlements.
Studies have focused on determining the boundaries of the cities in this region, the basic sources of the economic conditions of the cities, how they provided their defense and communication, how the social life was in the cities and in the rural settlements connected to the cities, and how they were perceived in the character of the Pisidian people. Although the settlements with special traces of the Chalcolithic Period and Iron Age have been also investigated during the surveys, the focus of the study remains the settlements inhabited in the Hellenistic, Roman and Late Antique Periods. Documentations carried out during the surveys include examining and defining existing structures, their architectural techniques, photographing them, drawing the small finds and mapping the cities.
